Lancaster, PA — With State Representative John C. Bear formally withdrawing his name from consideration for the upcoming General Election, the Republican Committee of Lancaster County will convene a meeting of the 97th State Legislative House District Republican Committee to select a candidate to replace him on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The 97th State Legislative House District Committee will meet on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Farm & Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, to name a new Republican nominee. The 97th State Legislative House District Committee is comprised of all members of the Manheim Township Area Republican Committee, all members of the Warwick Area Republican Committee (excluding those in the Elizabeth Township precinct) and those members of the Hempfield Area Republican Committee residing in the East Petersburg North Precinct.
With the advent of Rep. Bear’s withdrawal, the RCLC will be accepting official written letters from individuals seeking Republican Party support to be put on the ballot for the office of 97th State House District Legislator. To allow sufficient time for committee members to review candidate information, a deadline for submission of these letters is 5 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012. Any letters received after the deadline will not be accepted, and the candidate will not be placed into consideration for nomination.
Those wishing to be considered by the committee should submit resumes and letters of support for their candidacy directly to members of the 97th Legislative District Committee. The list of those committee members can be found by clicking here. All candidates will be subject to the same vetting process as other Republican candidates on the ballot.
There will be no further appointments to the 97th Legislative District Committee between now and the date of the meeting.
